Safaa Salwar Kameez For Women

RaiR Safaa — Ready-to-Wear Suits, Mostly Full-Sleeve

Safaa is the practical corner of the RaiR range. Seventeen pieces, all readymade rather than made to measure, and unusually well-suited to the way people actually dress in the UK. The line is suit-led. Anarkali suits make up the largest group, with sharara suits, palazzo suits and straight pant suits alongside, plus a couple of lehenga sets for anyone wanting a fuller silhouette from the same edit. The organza sharara suits with moti and sequin work are the standouts they come in several colourways at the same price, which makes them easy to coordinate across a group. Fabrics run to art silk, organza, faux georgette, faux crepe, chinon, rayon and a velvet palazzo suit for colder months. The work is embroidery and sequins throughout, with zari, moti and beadwork on the dressier pieces enough to carry a wedding or Eid function without being so heavy that the outfit only works once.

Two things make this collection worth a specific look. First, sleeves: thirteen of the seventeen designs are full-sleeve, with three-quarter on most of the rest. Finding embellished Indian formalwear with proper sleeve coverage is genuinely difficult, and this line solves it. Second, everything is ready to wear. No measurements to submit, no stitching wait you order your size and it arrives finished. The palette leans soft and wearable: off-white, cream, pista green, lavender, peach, mustard, light blue and orange for daytime and festive occasions, with red, purple, black and dark blue for evening. Prices sit between the low sixties and the high hundreds. Sizing runs XS to 3XL. Cbazaar manufactures in India and works directly with the embroidery units producing these pieces, which is why sequin and zari work at this standard costs well below a UK boutique equivalent.
