Sherwanis for Grooms

Sherwanis for Men in the UK — 944 Styles, Sized 26 to 60

The sherwani is the one outfit a groom is photographed in from every angle, and in the UK the usual options are a small rail at a local menswear shop or a trip to India. This collection is neither: 944 sherwanis, sized from 26 through 60, ready to ship rather than made to order. Indowestern sherwanis make up the bulk of the range and are what most UK grooms now choose a shorter, more tailored cut that reads closer to a jacket than a traditional long coat, often worn open over a kurta with trousers or a dhoti-style bottom. Classic sherwanis hold the traditional knee-length line with a closed collar, and there are achkan, angrakha and chipkan cuts for anyone who wants something more formal or more distinctive. Jacket-style, Pakistani-style, dhoti-style and breech-style variations sit within those.

Art silk dominates the fabric mix, with velvet for winter weddings and heavier evening functions, plus blended cotton, linen, rayon and viscose for daytime and summer. The work runs from Banarasi and brocade weaves and jacquard through to sequins, zari, zardosi, stone and bead embroidery. Colour choice is genuinely wide black, navy, cream, off-white, beige and maroon for the ceremony, and sky blue, mint, peach, onion pink, lilac, gold, mustard, rust and teal for sangeet, mehendi and reception. Prices start around the low end for printed and jacquard pieces and climb into the high hundreds for heavily hand-embroidered velvet, so a groom and his groomsmen can be dressed at different price points from the same collection. The practical note for UK buyers: this range is readymade, so ordering the right size matters. Check the size guide against a jacket that fits you well rather than guessing, and if you're between sizes, size up a sherwani is meant to sit slightly loose over a kurta. Cbazaar manufactures in India and works directly with the embroidery karigars, which is why this level of hand work costs well below a UK boutique or hire.
