Miss World contest is the oldest beauty pageant running. It’s one of the most awaited and widely watched events all around the world. Along with Miss Universe, Miss International, and Miss Earth, this is one of the four most coveted beauty titles. Beautiful young ladies across the globe between the age of 18 to 27 take part in this prestigious beauty contest representing their countries and vying for the crown. The Miss World titleholder is someone who is not only beautiful but also an empowered woman who has an intelligent mind and a compassionate heart. The entire year she becomes the face of the Miss World Foundation, spreading awareness about many social causes. With Manusi Chillar winning the Miss World Crown in 2017, India along with Venezuela has become the territory to have the most number of Miss World titleholders. This shows the admiration people hold for Indian beauty around the world.

This time it’s Suman Rao (Miss India 2019) who will be representing India for this prestigious title. As we wait for Suman Rao to get the Miss World Crown back to our land, let’s take a look at the list of beautiful  Indian ladies who had been its titleholders in the past.

Reita Faria (Miss World 1966)

Reita Faria

Reita Faria born on August 23, 1943, in Goa was the first Indian beauty to win the Miss World Pageant. Its been 53 years since that magical night but it still holds great value as it was the first time ever an Indian bagged the beauty contest at an international level. Besides this, she is also distinguished as the first Asian to be titled as Miss World, since it’s formation in July 1951. Unlike many, who succeeded her, she didn’t opt for a career in modeling or acting but rather opted to continue her studies in the medical field. She also served as a judge in many other beauty pageants after that.
