When did you first realize you wanted to pursue a career as a designer?

When I was in 8th grade, after watching lingerie fashion show on Fashion TV, I got the interest. It’s just that I got fascinated seeing all backstage videos of the models, makeup artists, photographers, etc.

How is working in fashion different today than from when you started out?

Fashion is nothing but being in trend, so the trend constantly keeps changing depending upon people's interests and preferences. It is just been 2 years since I started and I feel people are now more open to fashion and are trying out different silhouettes.

Does your approach differ when designing menswear compared to womenswear?

Yes it does change. Men mostly don't like wearing anything heavy, their main preference is comfort, so the fabrics are chosen accordingly.

Which is your favorite top-notch Indian designers and why?

I like Anita Dongre, she creates extremely beautiful designs, especially ethnic wear. She has a good eye on colours, and she chooses graceful fabrics and embroideries.

Are you trend-driven or culture-driven?

Yes trend driven. It's always good to give people what they are currently looking for.

What challenges do you face while creating your designs?

Pattern and constructions are important in fashion. We need to know what pattern will be suitable for a particular body type, so while creating a design we need to have this in mind and have to visualize how it will look on our customer. And also what type of fabric will be suitable for that particular pattern or design and how comfortable a customer can be wearing it. If my visualisation goes wrong then my output will go wrong as well. So we need to be very sharp in certain areas.

Which is your go-to ethnic occasion wear that you can be spotted very often in?

I mostly like wearing churidar suits.

Which is your favorite Bollywood star you would like to be your show-stopper if at all you launch your own collection?

I would love to have Priyanka chopra as my show stopper.

Which is the retro trend of the Indian fashion Industry you think should be revived?

I would say the fitted churidar suit, a perfect body-hugging one and enhancing the shape and accessorized with hair bands.
