The Cannes fever has taken over and it has not failed to amaze us for the 72nd time.

This International Film Festival has always been known for picking the best films from around the world and yes, the most glamorous red carpet looks. Actors from all over the world hone their grace and flamboyance while making an appearance on it, and what better way to portray grace than by adorning Indian wear with a touch of the western style. The ever-flamboyant Sonam Kapoor has taught us this time and time again.

Presenting to you 7 times Sonam Kapoor went ethnic at Cannes, with just the perfect amount of fusion between the west and the east.

The pale pink net Sari that she wore in 2014, was draped in a manner that did not resemble a traditional Sari with its numerous pleats. While the Sari had minimal pleats, the highlight of the look was its elaborate embroidery. The minimal hairdo and the jewellery restricted to only a large and beautiful choker brought out the grace in the sari itself.

The black and blue Sari worn by the actress for press interactions was unlike any other in the manner that its “pallu” seemed to have a solid shape of its own. It was paired with a deep V-neck Blouse and minimal jewellery.

She wore a two-piece breezy outfit that was a harmonic mix of contemporary and desi fashion. The ensemble included a single shoulder top with three-fourth skorts (pants with the appearance of a skirt), both held together by a “pallu”. The actress chose to wear boho danglers, and the “breeziness” of the outfit was complemented by a milkmaid braid that ran along the crown of her head.

The outfit was an off-white Blouse with an embroidered Cape, attached to a shoulder of the blouse and the Skirt or Lehenga resembled a royal Ball Gown which made it an instant hit among everyone. Her hair was braided and held together with traditional Indian hair accessories. She even pulled off her bridal mehendi, as a part of her outfit.

The final and most recent outfit has been dubbed the “Modern Maharani” look. According to her sister and stylist, Rhea Kapoor, the look was inspired by both old Hollywood and Indian royalty. Her hair was put up in a bun and was covered by a veil that was attached to her intricate Gown.
