Hi, yes the split sits on the hip and it would be around the belly button. Since this is a custom stitched suit, the exact position of the spit would be based on your height. When you order with us, we take your bust size and height and based on that we stitch the Anarkali suit. In case if you wish to get the split to a specific level you may order this using "Custom Size Stitching". Please select CUSTOM SIZE STITCHING and add it to the cart. On the shopping cart page, you would see a link in a blue text called PROVIDE MEASUREMENTS.
