This then went on to become their way of earning besides farming. One such traditionally prosperous handloom is from Bengal. Bengal weaves with the traditional silhouette of sarees are a mesmerizing combination one can see. Many top-notch designers are launching their collections loaded with these weave styles as a way of reviving this lost artwork. They are commonly known as Dhakai Jamdani or simple Dakkai, as it originated from Dhaka, Bangladesh. Later under Mughal patronage, they were named as Jamdani, where \u201cJam\u201d means flower and \u201cDani\u201d means vase.\u00a0 Weaving these <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbazaar.com\/women\/clothing\/sarees\/jamdani\">Jamdani Sarees<\/a> is the most skillful and laborious artwork. It takes somewhere around 9 months to 1-year to make the finest Jamdani saree. These sarees are generally in white color with red borders and striped pallu. The white color here denotes purity while red color denotes her fertility.
