Chiffon Sarees:

Chiffon Saree is most commonly used as evening Party wear, especially as an overlay, giving an elegant and floating appearance. Chiffon Saree can be difficult to work with because of its light and slippery textures. Due to this delicate nature, chiffon must be hand washed very gently.

Yet the flimsy look makes Chiffon Saree the much sought after saree. The chiffon sarees are made with very fine, tightly twisted yarns that could be either in the filling or the warp or both. Chiffon Sarees have some stretch and a slightly rough feel. Under a magnifying glass Chiffon Saree resembles a fine net or mesh which gives chiffon the see-through property. Chiffon Saree are light in weight and woven in alternate S- and Z-twist crepe yarns. Hence they have a perfect amalgamation of elegance, grace and style.

Chiffon Sarees come in vibrant color with contrasting designs. The designs are often done with zari and gold metallic embroidery threads. Because of its free fall, it gives a slimming look and looks good on everybody. Chiffon saree is very quick in drying. Apart from cotton, and crepe, Chiffon sarees are also preferred as summer time saree and gives a sophisticated look.

Though Chiffon Saree gives look very well but very difficult to handle chiffon Sarees when sewing and it is best to paste the pieces over tissue to make it easier. It has slightly bumpy look. Chiffon sarees are best suited to shirring, draping, gathering, tucking, etc., because it is so limp. If made in a straight sheath style, Chiffon Saree should be stitched with a very firm fabric as fall.

Chiffon is much preferred in making Bandhini Saree and chikan Sarees . To summarize Chiffon Saree is diaphanous, light in weight, sheer, transparent.
